Leaning Into Learning

Join Northern Michigan E3 for our inaugural Leaning Into Learning Asynchronous Book Club. We will meet via Discord for 10 weeks launching soon. Northern Michigan E3 Council Members will be with you every step of the way, and participate fully in the shared conversations!

The structure consists of two affinity groups: BIPOC and White-Bodied Community Members. The BIPOC Group will be reading I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness by Austin Channing Brown. The White-Bodied Group will be reading Waking Up White by Debbie Irving. 

Why affinity groups? An affinity group is a gathering of individuals who share a common identity, belief, or interest. These groups create safe and supportive environments where members can connect, build community, and provide each other with encouragement and understanding, which is especially valuable in a social justice book club setting. This allows us to learn together and reduce harm.

Like every book club. We will do introductions. Questions will be posted weekly. Comment on your learning, share, collaborate, and discuss. There will be two tech trainings so that you're set up and ready to go via Discord. At the end we'll celebrate together with an in-person potluck.
