About the event

You do need to Sign-up on the United Way Volunteer Portal to see all options for MLK Day of Service. It does include an extremely quick turnaround on a background check needed for inside volunteering. So, not to worry!

“I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.”

-Martin Luther King Jr.

Come together with Northern Michigan E3, the United Way of Northwest Michigan, TCAPS, NorthEd, and many other of our passionate Traverse City non-profits as we spend this day building up our community.

With many of the students and businesses in the region having the day off, let's not do so while forgetting the spirit of the day. 2021 had been a long year and not just with COVID. We have seen many difficulties and frustrations that can over be overcome by our community standing together.

On January 17th, 2022, we have organized some opportunities to volunteer with community partners that are dedicated to increasing equity,  accessibility, and lifting up all voices in our Northern Michigan Community.

Click the RSVP Button below to find a group for you to stand with and support in our MLK Day of Service

Volunteer with groups like:

  • TART Trails
  • Norte
  • The Opera House
  • The Great Lakes Children's Museum
  • FLOW
  • Food Coalition

Most volunteering opportunities start in the morning @ 9 or afternoon @ 1 for 2 or 3 hours. The Opera House does have an evening opportunity that includes tickets to 'MLK: A Musical Celebration' from 6-9pm.
