“Food is a powerful vehicle for storytelling. This is true both for individuals and at the collective level. Food is who we are, where we come from, how we live, what we believe, and who we will become. Our biographies are condensed into dishes and bites, like memories garnishing our stories. Through the foods we consume and the foods we make–and don’t–we stake claims in our identities and stories, as if announcing to the world, ‘this is me and this is what I eat.’ ”
- Nicholas Williams, “Thinking Food”
In partnership with the Traverse City DDA, DTCA, Taste the Local Difference, Oryana, Minogin, Hagerty, and Tony Vu from The Good Bowl join us for a 5 part cooking series that highlights local chefs, the cultures their food reflects, and the stories that inspire them.
This is a free event open to anyone to attend. The Recipe Cards will be made available beforehand to give you time to shop for ingredients. Each recipe serves 6.
If you don't have the time to shop or cost is a barrier, Oryana and Minogin Market can have the food boxes set and ready for pickup. Just order from https://www.northernmichigane3.com/shop.
And if the thought of buying food initially makes you feel stressed, use the code CollectiveCare for a full discount. There are 100 boxes set aside so take what you need. We don't want anyone to not be able to join us.
